USELESS INFO TUESDAY

~  Alex Rodriguez was the first slugger whose home run was checked by instant replay in major league baseball history.  In a September 2008 game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.  The home run call was upheld.


~  TheDandie Dinmont Terrier is the only breed of dog named after a fictional character.  It was named for a farmer who owned six of the hunting terriers in Sir Walter Scott's 1814 novel "Guy Mannering."


~  Queen Victoria made white wedding gowns fashionable.  In 1840, she married her cousin Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg wearing white.


~  The state capital of Montana, Helena, was originally known as Crabtown.  It was named for John Crab, one of four prospectors whose discovery of gold there in 1864 brought other fortune seekers to the area, turning it into a boom town.
