Being Southern doesn’t mean I am not educated. I may say “ain’t” and “y’all” and call you “sweetie”
or “honey.” I might “bless a lot of
hearts,” and I might even “piddle around.”
I will greet you with “Hey” and a hug.
All soda pop is “Coke” and I might refer to my grocery cart as a “buggy.” By golly, that’s OK. I am polite and say “Ma’am” and “Sir.” We are kind.
We are caring. We are loyal. We are proud to be Southern, love Southern
food and love the South.
