7 SIGNS OF SOUTHERNESS

I have a little book my mom gave me a couple of years ago called "The Seven Signs of Southerness - Famous Southerners on Being Southern." I have been using this book to post the quotes on Thursdays. Here are the 7 signs:

1. Expressing - We talk and laugh openly and often.

2. Timeweaving - We value the past as we progress.

3. Rooting - We revel in our sense of place.

4. Accommodating - We treat every situation and person as special.

5. Gathering - We cherish family and belonging.

6. Embracing - We welcome a variety of cultures.

7. Twinning - We blend pleasure into everything.

I DID SOMETHING GROSS THIS MORNING....

....and I can't wait to get home and do it again! Have you heard of the "Neti-pot?" A friend of mine (who shall remain anonymous) told me about it when Rachel started getting sinus symptoms. I got one for her, she used it, and now she is better. This is it....

Well, I woke up this morning with my head completely stopped up. I decided I was going to use it too. Well, here is how you do it (brace yourself)....

You are irrigating your sinus by pouring saline solution in one nostril until it fills the sinus cavity on that side and starts running out the other nostril! I told you it was gross! But, boy did it make me feel better.

I love being able to share with y'all!

Have a good weekend!

BOSTON - Republicans are rejoicing and Democrats reeling in the wake of Scott Brown's stunning victory over Martha Coakley in a special Massachusetts Senate election...

....Obama grimly faced a need to both regroup and recoup losses on Wednesday, the anniversary of his inauguration, in a White House shaken by the realization of what a difference a year made. OLD FRIENDS

Thomas and Denise came to town before Christmas and we met at the Brick. I just love them! It was fun reminiscing about growing up in Burningtree! Here is the crowd: Thomas, me, David Tami, Doug Rush, Denise, and Chris Holmes.

I am so glad to have so many old friends from my childhood still in my life, not just in this picture - like Tim, Beth, Veronica, Lisa - you know who you are. I think we are all lucky!

Quote for the day: "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other gold."

TEAM EDWARD!

OK, let me just be honest....I am addicted to things Vampire. I love the HBO series True Blood and have read all 9 books in that series. I read the Anne Rice book series years ago. I have read Bram Stoker's Dracula. And now, I am on the 4th book in the Twilight series. I have seen both the movies "Twilight" and "New Moon." I can't seem to put these books down. I am obsessed with Robert Pattinson who plays the vampire Edward. So I am definitely Team Edward (as opposed to Team Jacob. He is a werewolf)! Oh my, I sound like I am in 7th grade!

I do promise you here and now, when I am finished with this last book, I will read 4 books in a row that are big, intelligent, grown up books. OK, well, maybe two in a row. The first one I will read is "My Life in France" by Julia Child - bon apetit!

CRAZY WEEK!

Hope everyone enjoyed "WINTER STORM 2010!" Our weather people here are so retarded.

Just a quick note to say have a wonderful weekend, and I promise to post everyday next week an intelligent, exciting, hilarious blog! (Ok, I just promise to post everyday next week.)

And congratulations to the Alabama Crimson Tide for their Championship win! I rally am happy for all the Bama fans I know. But answer me this - does that mean that the Championship watch I bought Jimmy a couple of years ago (with a championship year at each hour of the day) is now obsolete? I guess so. Oh well, he never wore it much any way. Maybe because it was Fossil instead of his usual Seiko.

Happy Weekend.

I'M BACKKKKKKK!!!!!

Well, it seems I took an unexpected hiatus from blogging over the Holidays. To be honest, I don't really know if it was unexpected, or the fact that I just did not turn on a computer from Dec. 24 until today. I did have to go into work on the 29th for a little while, but I got my work done and headed straight back to my couch!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. Mine was very relaxing just like I wanted.

I attended two movies over the Holiday - New Moon and Sherlock Holmes. I enjoyed both.

I hope to get right back on the Blogging band wagon! That is one of my resolutions! But today, after working a full day and being off for so long, I am exhausted. This is all I have - I am spent....pant, pant.

Love!
