USELESS INFO TUESDAY

~The name of the friendly monster in the kiddie board game Candy Land is Gloppy.  In current versions of the game, it's Gloppy the Chocolate Monster.  Previously, it was Gloppy the Molasses Monster.


~  The Great Dane originated in Germany.  The breed, believed to be a mix of Irish Wolfhound and Old English Mastiff, was originally developed to hunt boar.


~  The model for Uncle Sam in the U.S. Army's famous "I Want You" World War I recruitment poster was the artist himself.  James Montgomery Flagg wanted to save on the modeling fee.


~  In Massachusetts, 24% of the population claim Irish ancestry according to the U.S. Census Bureau.  That figure is about twice the national percentage.


~  Hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg teamed up with Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin to record the rape single and video Rocket Experience in 2009.  It was to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing.
