Welcome to Auburn.

Seriously. Welcome to Auburn.

Everyone said it - while giving directions, offering food, serving free drinks and speaking to all.

They shook hands. They thanked you for visiting.

And some even apologized just in case someone else was mean to you. It almost felt like there was a planned hospitality committee in this gorgeous, quaint town on the Plains. We all were in awe- the only rude fans we saw were wearing garnet and black.

Jordan-Hare Stadium was an incredible experience due to a raucous crowd, a fantastic gameday environment and a gorgeous eagle that swooped over the stadium and sat on the sideline. The crowd chanted the entire game, but there were no rude catcalls toward USC or untoward motions to the fans, at least from our vantage points.

This small town was the best of the best. Before the game, friends told us all the campus was like Clemson. Not true. This place was pristine with class. It had character. And the people had character. They even recycled....

...Thank you, Auburn. You set the standard for what SEC football should be. If we have to lose, we'll lose there every time. From what we saw, you gave us the best of the South and the best college football has to offer. Let's do the same for Alabama in two weeks.

MARHTA STEWART, COME ON NOW PLEASE...

Don't get me wrong. I love Martha Stewart. I wish I could be Martha Stewart. I might be a little jealous of Martha Stewart.  She is my idol.  Wonder if I could be her creative muse?  But, her pet toys will not stand up to a ByeBye.

We bought him the cutest little Martha Stewart Hippo the other day.  I was looking for Tyke Beanie Babies for dogs, but PetSmart quit selling those.  They last the longest and are strong and sturdy even for ByeBye.

After 20 minutes of play, Blue Hippo still looks good on his right side...

...but not so much on his left.  ByeBye totally chewed his ear off in less than half an hour.  Rachel had to distract him so I could remove Blue Hippo and send him to the Blue Hippo Burial Place (aka the garbage).

Bye Blue Hippo.  We did not know you long, but we loved you!

HEY, BJ AND BLT, MACGYVER CALLED....

.....and he wants his phone back!   Took these pics while visiting with BJ and BLT in their new place a couple of weeks ago.  I can't tell you how happy we all are that they are back in Alabama!  But BJ, come on...it might be time for a new phone.  That one is about the size of an at home printer now....

...and, for real, the antenna is a straw?!?  That is too funny.

Here BLT is in full spy mode...glasses and all!  (That phone is HUGE!)
Love ya'll!  Happy Weekend.

SOUTHERN FRIED THURSDAY

Hey Guys - How do you like the new look.  I figured after over 500 posts, it was time to change it up a bit.  I think this one fits me bacause I love to read.  You like?  Let me know....

One of the great things about living in the South is our ability to to have fun anywhere we go.  And part of fun is FOOD!  At Riverfest, this was one of the vendors selling their wares....

...kind of looks like heart attack on a stick doesn't it?  Well, if not heart attack at least we had chicken on a stick, gator on a stick, corn on the cob on a stick, and corn dogs (obviously on a stick)!  And I love how everything not on a stick is fried.  Fried onion, fried funnel cakes, fried potato chips, fried fries!  But wait, there is something grilled.....SAUSAGE!  There, that will be for the healthy eaters!

I did not visit this venue because I was lucky enough to know a BBQ team (shout out to LBOS) and was able to eat their leftovers at their tent.

RIVERFEST!

Cheers to LBOS! This past weekend marked another Riverfest under their belt. They did great coming in better than last year! An overall 48th out of 78 competitors. I am so proud they are my friends! We had good food and good times!

Baby Bear could not get over the pig cake that KD made. He really got upset when we started hacking into it and eating it! Poor Baby.

LBOS looking over their scores....I thought it was hilarious. They would be like "Damn, we were in 50th" then someone else would say "Yeah, but we beat so-and-so and so-and-so." Then there would be a team yelling "Hell Yeah!" L Big Dawes, sorry for the evidence that you smoke in this picture.

Btut and L Dawes made a spectacular dessert! It tied for 1st! Btut got a 180 pin which means she had a perfect score! Congrats. Two Pies for my birthday please! (In this picture I asked everybody to clap. The first picture, all the people around me (outside of the shot) clapped and J Big Dawes and Andy AndyRandy just stood there...needless to say, we had to have a re shoot with them clapping!)

Congrats L'il Bit O' Smoke. Can't wait till next time! (Just so we got the names right - L Big Dawes, Randy AndyRandy, TCW, skip D, Andy AndyRandy, Btut, J Big Dawes, Bear - Love you guys!)

RIVERFEST

Hope to see some of you at Riverfest tonight and tomorrow!
This has been a very sad week for Rachel and I. I lost a good friend and she lost her Aunt Cindy.
Hopefully spirits are lifting and things will get back to normal soon. Thanks to my reader (s? - all two of you) for being patient about the blog. I have a lot of material to blog about and will have even more after this weekend.

Be safe out there!

Do you remember...

...your first album? This was mine. I used to have to hide it from my brothers. One day I did not, and they broke it. I was heartbroken until it was replaced. I can't believe I thought Shaun Cassidy was sooooo hot!
Have a good weekend!

SOUTHERN SMOKED THURSDAY - Dry Run Part Deux

(Thanks Wino Bill for the suggestion)

Lil' Bit 'O Smoke did another BBQ dry run this weekend. It was at the Big Dawes house. Lots of good food and good friends! My vidalia onion casserole was a success....

Cheers to LBOS! Here they are doing their traditional shot of brown liquor after all of the cooking was done. Hope you all come to Riverfest and watch the team compete. Good luck AndyRandy, the Big Dawes, Bear, Btut and TCW!
Here is the official Dry Run Part Deux (I love saying that) display. I should have taken a picture of the kitchen table. It was laden with lots of delicious food.

Hello L Big Dawes. Thanks to you and J Big Dawes for having us over to eat drink and be merry.

You would think that Wino Bill and Andy were arguing. They were bitching about me making them pose for pictures!

Bear and Baby Bear conked out watching football. Momma Bear and Little Bear were sitting close by. I love how Bear uses his Baby as a pillow.

Happy Thursday.

WHAT TO SHARE...

I was going to post the results of the Great Bathroom Debate of 2010 (you remember - the correct steps to entering, taking and leaving a shower), but I can't find where I stuck the responses. That's ok. Nobody got it right. In other words, nobody thought the way I shower was the best way. So, they were wrong.

I just read on one of my favorite blogs that I should blog everday, even if it just a picture with a caption. Just something. I also read that I should thank my readers often, so thank you.

Since I have lost all of the wrong responses to the GBD of 2010, I have decided to share with you the contents of my purse! This decision was made when I discovered a loose peanut M&M in there minutes ago. I know you must be very excited to read on!

1. orange peanut M&M
2. hard dock hugger with my camera inside
3. Broadway Diner (Atlanta) coupon
4. Fox theater brochure
5. two wet naps (unused - don't be gross)
6. zaxby's receipt
7. wallet
8. 2 peppermints
9. exterior master key for new work building
10. Panama Jack lip balm bought 4 summers ago
11. 3 pens
12. 1 pencil
13. Bud Light Auburn football schedule (yes, for this season)
14. pink highlighter
15. 2 dollars
16. tube of neosporin
17. wine cork (no idea - oh wait, I remember. Bottle of wine from Simp McGee's - I wanted to remember the label so I could buy it. Called Writer's Block, and I think Shakespeare is on the bottle
18. cell phone
19 paperclip
20. 2 quarters, 3 dimes, 2 nickels, 7 pennies (in other words 97 cents)

There you have it! Interesting read, no? Hope I didn't loose any of you!

Have I thanked you for reading my blog?
