USELESS INFO TUESDAY

~  The first animals to fly into deep space and orbit the moon were two tortoises, in September 1968.  The steppe tortoises were aboard the Zond 5, the Soviet Union's unmanned spacecraft.

~  Caroline Kennedy was the inspiration for Neil Diamond's 1969 hit song, Sweet Caroline.

~  Casablanca, Morocco was originally Casa Branca (meaning white house in Portuguese) when the Portuguese built the city in 1515.  They abandoned the city following an earthquake in 1755.  The city was rebuilt by the Spaniards who settled there and renamed it Casablanca, which means white house in Spanish.

~  The knee is the largest joint in the human body.

~  Major league baseballs are made in Costa Rica.  Pro Basketballs are made in China.  National Football League footballs are manufactured in Ada, Ohio, at the Wilson football factory.
